Where does your local legislative candidate stand on infrastructure funding?
  Friday, July 16, 2010

Don’t waste your summer.  Educate your local candidates for office about infrastructure issues before the upcoming election.

Even if every incumbent running for reelection to the state legislature is successful, over half the legislature will be brand new in January.  Now is the time to educate and support pro infrastructure candidates.  Once anti-investment legislators are elected, it’s virtually impossible to get rid of them until they are term limited.

Most candidates for office have local coffee hours or post their contact information on campaign fliers.  Make it a point to communicate with them before the election and let them know of your concerns.

And while you are at it, have you contributed to the MITA PAC this year?  Just like with the industry as a whole, contributions are down.  But, we can’t let the difficult economic climate derail our political clout.  We need it now more than ever.

Click here to print a set of bullet points you can give to your local candidates about infrastructure funding.
