MITA represents the interes

ts of the underground, road and bridge contractors throughout Michigan as well as many affiliated businesses by promoting and protecting these various segments of the industry in Washington DC, Lansing and at the local level in terms of governmental relations. The top priority of MITA is to fight for and secure adequate long-term funding with limited bureaucratic involvement for the entire heavy construction industry.

MITA Continues to Advocate for Underground Infrastructure Funding

During the heavy rain in March and April, which brought flooding across the state, MITA was busy promoting the need for investment in the state’s underground infrastructure.

Transportation Town Hall Meetings Continue

As the legislature continues to debate the various plans to address the road funding issue, individual legislators still want to hear from their local communities. A handful of legislators have scheduled transportation town hall meetings for the end of April/beginning of May, and we strongly encourage all MITA members to find a way to attend and participate.

Legislative Update: Funding, International Crossing and Lobby Day

The Legislature returned from their two week spring break and moved full speed ahead on the transportation funding issue. Viewed as one of the top items to be debated (and hopefully solved while lawmakers are in session before summer recess), meetings between legislative leaders and the governor, as well as committee hearings introducing new legislation, all occurred in the first two weeks back.

Join us for a MITA Lansing Lobby Day!

It's prime lobby season for MITA! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 14, and please plan to join us in downtown Lansing. MITA members are invited to come down to the Capitol for a morning legislative briefing and the opportunity to spend the day lobbying their state representatives and state senators.
