One of the keys to representing the industry is MITA's relationship with MDOT.  We view our relationship with MDOT as a dynamic, positive, and working partnership. MITA members know that MDOT's doors are always open to us, as we host joint meetings between the industry and the department to discuss key issues on a regular basis. At the same time, MDOT knows that MITA speaks for the vast majority of highway contractors in the state, and the department seeks our input first as policies are developed that will impact contractors.

International Trade Crossing

Gov. Rick Snyder announced an agreement with Canada on Friday, June 15, 2012 that lays the groundwork for the New International Trade Crossing, a move that positions Michigan to thrive in the global economy while protecting the state from shouldering the project’s costs.

The NITC will provide a modern, strategically located bridge between Detroit and Windsor that is vital to enhancing the $70 billion-a-year trade relationship between Michigan and Canada. It will generate thousands of short- and long-term jobs on both sides of the border, open new trade markets, strengthen economic security and ease traffic congestion.

Click here for information and news on the bridge.
